The head gasket is a technological, complex and fundamental component. To meet the continuous needs of the market, Athena subjects the head gaskets to intense control tests, both during the design phase and during the bench tests. The Athena head gasket can be produced using different technologies, such as metal/elastomer combinations or plywood with steel materials and Athena coating. Choosing a gasket of excellent quality is the first step towards the reliability of your engine.
Depending on the type, it is subjected to:
1. High precision cutting
Through the latest generation lasers it is possible to obtain a high degree of precision and purity of the cut, totally eliminating the production burrs. These can in fact cause infiltration of various elements (oil, water, compression gas), compromising the operation of the engine.
2. Alignment of reliefs
This solution increases the elasticity of the gasket during operation, ensuring excellent seal over time, even in extreme conditions. On the contrary, a misalignment of the slats would cause an immediate flattening of the gasket eliminating the function of elastic memory and the consequent loss of compression.
